Anatomical Regions

The human body is divided by two major divisions:

  1. Axial
  2. Appendicular

Axial ‘s major regions are:

  1. Head (Cephalic)
  2. Neck (Cervical)
  3. Thorax (Thoracic / Thoracis)
  4. Abdomen
  5. Pelvis

Appendicular is subdivided into two regions:

  1. Upper Limb
  2. Lower Limb

They are further subdivided into descriptive regions.

Axial

Cephalic Region

  1. Cranial (Skull)
  2. Occipital
  3. Auris or Otic (ears)
  4. Frontal (forehead)
  5. Orbital or Ocular (eyes)
  6. Nasal or Nasus (nose)
  7. Bucca or Buccal (Cheek)
  8. Oris or Oral (mouth)
  9. Mentis or Mental (chin)

From 4 – 9 are formed the Facial (Face) region.

Thoracic Region and surrounding
